On a person’s record, press Take photo under the photo field, allow camera access if the browser asks, then Capture. Crop by dragging and zooming, and press Use photo. Nothing is installed: the camera runs in the browser page.
Take a photo
- Open the person’s record, or start Capture & Print to enroll someone new.
- Press Take photo. If the computer has more than one camera, choose one from Camera.
- Ask the person to look straight at the camera, with the face in the middle of the frame, and press Capture.
- Crop the photo:
- Drag to move it, or use the arrow keys (hold Shift to move further).
- Zoom with the Zoom slider, the mouse wheel, or the + and − keys, up to 4×.
- Center on face centers the crop. Where the browser can find a face it centers on it; in most browsers it cannot, so it centers the photo and says so, and you drag to position it.
- Press Use photo. Retake goes back to the camera.
You can also press Upload, or drop an image on the photo box, to use a file instead: JPEG, PNG or WebP.
What is saved
Photos are cropped to the card’s 4:5 portrait shape and saved as a 600 × 750 pixel JPEG on a white background, which is sharp at the size an ID card prints. Metadata such as location and camera details is removed when the photo is stored.
