Everything between a list of names and a printed card.
Badgewright runs in the browser. The only thing on your print PC is the card printer's driver. Cards are printed, not encoded: there is no magnetic stripe or smart card programming.
Datasets
A dataset is a group of people and the fields you keep about them. Make as many as you need: one per building, one per role, one per event.
Five field types
Text, number, date, picklist and image. Mark fields as required and choose one as the primary key.
Ready-made starting points
Start from Staff, Students or Visitors, or from a blank dataset.
Edit the schema in one go
Add, rename, reorder and remove fields, then save once. A change that would make existing records invalid is refused, with the reason.
Rename without breaking cards
Templates point at fields by ID. Changing "Last Name" to "Surname" changes nothing on the card.
Records
Your people and their photos, searchable and ready to print.
Search that forgives
Search ignores letter case and accents, so "jose" finds José. Sort and page through thousands of records.
Webcam and file photos
Take a photo with any camera the browser can see, or upload one, then crop it to fit the card.
CSV import with a dry run
Columns are matched to fields for you. You see what will be added, updated or skipped before anything is saved.
Photos by the zip
Upload a zip of photos with the CSV. Files are matched by path, by file name in any letter case, or by primary key.
Export that opens in Excel
Export a dataset to CSV, edit it in a spreadsheet and import it again. Exports are safe from formula injection.
Coming from CloudBadging
The Staff starter dataset has the fields CloudBadging ships with, so your export lines up. Upload the CSV and the photo zip, and column headers are matched to fields for you.
Card designer
A drag-and-drop designer that draws the card on screen with the same renderer that prints it, at 300 dpi.
Card stock
CR80, CR79 and CR100, portrait or landscape, one side or two.
Elements
Text, auto-size text, dates, rectangles, ellipses, lines, images and photos bound to the record.
Six barcode types
Code 128, Code 39, QR, PDF417, Data Matrix and Aztec. You are warned before printing if a value can't be encoded.
Field tokens
Mix fixed text with tokens such as {{First Name}} {{Last Name}} in text and barcodes.
Conditions
Show, hide or restyle an element when a field equals, contains, is empty, is one of, or is greater or less than a value.
Editing tools
Snapping and guides, layers, undo and redo, keyboard shortcuts, a safe-zone overlay and a preview that steps through real records.
Draft and active
Designers see drafts. Everyone else sees only the templates you have activated. Every save is a new version.
Printing
Cards print from Chrome or Edge through the printer manufacturer's own driver. Direct-to-card or retransfer, color or monochrome, one side or two.
Capture & Print
Enroll a new person, take their photo and print their card in one step, with the card updating as you type.
Search & Print
Pick up to 500 records for one job. Reprints ask for a reason, which is kept.
Printer profiles
Save the offset, scale and back-side rotation for each printer once. An alignment test card shows when it is right.
Per-card print history
Each job keeps a snapshot of the template and the data. Every record shows when it was printed, by whom, and which copy it was.
Users and permissions
Unlimited users on every plan. Give each person the access their job needs.
Nine permissions
Manage users, configure datasets, design templates, manage records, print, export, delete all records, view reports and manage printers.
Role presets
Owner, Data admin, Designer, Print operator and Auditor, or tick the boxes yourself.
